Google has been testing how generative AI in search can help people find what they're looking for faster.
From personalized recommendations to advice, AI technology can help with many aspects of life. The latest AI-driven version of Google Search, called Search Generative Experience (SGE), created a buzz on social media after it advised users to drink urine to expel kidney stones.
The post, shared by @dril with the handle X, shows that SGE is advising users to drink plenty of water. If you search for “How to make kidney stones pass faster” you will find “Drinking lots of fluids like water, ginger ale, lemon lime soda, fruit juice etc. can help kidney stones pass faster. At least every 24 hours. Aim to drink 2 quarts (2 liters) of urine. Your urine should be light in color.”

The post was shared on May 5, reaching more than 1.6 million users and sparking hilarious reactions. “We've been building an entire field of data science and computer organization for half a century, and now we're going to set it all on fire for AI marketing and short-term fraudulent profits,” the user wrote. “What if I like my kidney stones and want to keep them?” another user responded.
A third user wrote: “It's going to be like Bear Grylls' version of Google AI.”
