A popular U.S. restaurant ran into data security issues last summer.
Golden Corral acknowledged the data breach, which occurred on August 15 of last year, in a press release issued Thursday. The buffet chain, which has locations in 43 states, announced that personal information belonging to current and former employees, their dependents and beneficiaries was accessed by an outside party.
The restaurant claimed that there is currently no evidence that this data has been misused.

“Golden Corral is not aware of any identity theft cases affected by this incident, but individuals can avoid identity theft incidents by checking their account statements and benefit descriptions for unusual activity. “We encourage you to remain vigilant against these risks,” the press release said. “Any suspicious activity should be reported to the appropriate insurance company, health care provider, or financial institution.”
