“The Golden Bachelor” star Jerry Turner and that season's winner Teresa Nist are divorcing after three months of marriage.
The former couple announced the news on “Good Morning America” Friday morning.
“Teresa and I have had many heart-to-heart conversations and have looked very carefully at our situation, our living situation, etc., and we have mutually come to the conclusion that perhaps now is the time to do so. We need to dissolve our marriage,'' Turner told GMA's Juju Chan in an interview.
“Are you getting a divorce?” Chan asked, to which Turner replied, “Yes.”
“We have received so much love and support from so many people who have watched 'The Golden Bachelor.' I can't tell you how many people have told me how this movie gave them hope. Probably not,” Nist added. “We hope it doesn't change anything for anyone.”
Turner went on to say, “What struck me most about our conversation was how dedicated we both are to our families…That's why we handle these situations… I think they look at it and feel it's best for each of our well-being to live apart. ”
Turner and Nist married on January 4th in a special that aired at the La Quinta Resort in California. They got engaged during the season finale episode of Turner. This was the first run of the long-conceived “Bachelor” spinoff.
Following the success of “The Golden Bachelor,” which drew 43.4 million viewers and became the most-watched ABC unscripted show on Hulu, ABC has ordered “The Golden Bachelorette” to air this fall. The top spot has not yet been announced.
