Indie rock giants Fontaines DC have released their new single “Favourite” along with an inspiring video to go with the song.
The track follows April's smash hit “Starburster,” which impressively kicked off the release of their fourth album, “Romance.” It showcases a softer side to the Fontaines' new song, which is also accompanied by a new, personally directed music video that splices together home footage from the band's early days with shots of the current line-up.
Further explaining the video, the band's Conor Deegan said it's “a throwback, a look back at childhoods we never knew each other had,” adding, “Seeing people we knew intimately as adults when we were younger explores where we came from and, in some ways, who we still are. There are lots of familiar faces and the antics they display in the video are heartwarming and disarming to watch. At times I'm reminded of the boyish attitude they had when I got to know them, grown up and adult, and also the attitude they haven't yet grown up with. I feel their spirit in it.”
“We hope this video will be a way to celebrate our friendships and move on from there to the relationships we cherish: our moms, dads, brothers, aunts, uncles, grandmothers, grandfathers – those who are still with us and those who have sadly passed away. We haven't lost our connection to one another and we're not afraid to become adults again, maintaining our romance in a sometimes tough world.”
