Sarah Tereshinsky shows you how to upcycle everyday items around your home.
Washington –
Are you looking to spruce up your space this spring while reducing your carbon footprint? If so, you need to meet Sarah Tereshinsky. She is also a sustainable stylist and an eco-designer and shares all kinds of her DIYs on her social media.
When asked to explain exactly what an eco-designer is, Tereshinsky replies: “My job…is to create beautiful spaces, whether it's a small project or a big one, while keeping our carbon footprint low, buying second-hand, and using what we have.” Huge room makeover. My job is also to help people do that and help them unleash their creativity. Many people don't think they are creative, but they are! And sometimes just a little nudge in the right direction can help the planet and save you money. ”
As you deep clean your home this spring, take a few minutes to think about whether you can upcycle some items. Teresinski has a lot of “do it yourself” projects for beginners to slightly more advanced users.
Some of her favorites she shared with WUSA9 include using book jackets to decorate vases, adding twinkle lights to decanters to use as outdoor lighting, and even framing vintage T-shirts to create new statement pieces of art. There are things like making.
Creating your own eco-friendly home is easier than you think. Tereshinsky recommends trying something out to see if you like it. “It's your space where no one's coming in and gauging how you look and having fun and doing whatever you want. Then you know you're really enjoying it, and it's very, very fun.” Tereshinsky says.
