On May 11, Olero Community Media and E-Opala Recycling Center are teaming up to host an important event aimed at recycling unwanted electronics responsibly. The free e-waste collection event aims to support environmental management, divert hazardous waste and contribute to youth education. His CEO of Olelo Community Media, Roger McKeague, and his E-Opala president and owner, Jason Gruver, joined him on Living808 to talk about the event.
The event will be held at 1122 Mapunapuna Street in Honolulu and will run from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Participants are encouraged to bring computers, laptops, monitors, printers, TV batteries, cell phone batteries, etc. for proper disposal and recycling. However, some items such as cooking appliances, personal care electronics, and stereo equipment cannot be accepted.
This event is important because it helps prevent hazardous materials from ending up in landfills. Proceeds from this event directly support Olero's youth programs and provide educational opportunities for aspiring storytellers.
Roger McKeague, president of E-Opala Recycling Center, outlined the organization's commitment to environmental sustainability. In line with our mission to reduce the carbon footprint of our communities, E-Opala ensures responsible recycling of all items we collect.
