A handyman shared a quick and easy solution to driveway problems that homeowners can tackle themselves.
A repair company called Jalapeno Solutions shared a three-step DIY fix for a concrete drive on YouTube.
In the video, he (@JalapenoSolutions) said that a homeowner asked him to fix a small concrete section in his driveway because it was loose and broken.
The repairman added that he specializes in drywall repair, but that he can do simple repairs himself.
He revealed that he used a quick-setting cement called Quikreet.
First, he poured Quikrete into a paint tray and mixed it with water using a paint liner until the solution had a “sour cream consistency.”
He warned viewers and explained why speed is important in this step.
“So it sets up pretty quickly,” he said.
The repairman then used paint liner to fill in the gaps with Quickrete solution.
Finally, Jalapeño Solutions used a drywall knife to level the surface and smooth the mixture into the gaps.
This step ensured that the driveway looked even and had no irregularities on the surface.
He declined to say which brand of Quickrete he used, but some brands and small quantities are available at Walmart for about $20.
Jalapeno Solutions acknowledged that he is not a professional concrete refinisher and even asked viewers to share any tips they had in the comments.
One viewer wrote, “There is a bonding agent that should be used when adding fresh concrete to already hardened concrete.”
“Hey, drill some 1/4″ holes in the bud so you have something to grab onto and better consistency,” another added.
“Quick cleat works great for patches, but a small cup and paint stirring stick also works well. Great job.”
Another commenter said, “It's so beautiful to see fellow concrete workers respecting hard labor.”
