A creative mum has revealed how she transformed an old staircase in her backyard.
She took inspiration from European design to create hacks suitable for DIY beginners.
Roisin (@geebungalow) has around 99,000 followers on TikTok, where he shares about home renovations.
She shared how she renovated a bare staircase leading into her garden, and it went viral on the app.
Showing herself preparing a powdered cement-based tile adhesive, she said the Crazy Pavé hack was “nearly impossible” to fail.
Since she's based in Australia, she used Bastion Mastic powder-bonded tiles, but a similar product sells for $25 on Amazon.

Roisin then laid some porcelain tiles on the lawn and covered them with towels.
She used a hammer to break the tiles into different sizes and shapes.
She applied them to the stairs in an artistic style, then left them to dry overnight.
The next day, she covered the area with off-white Ardex Wide Joint Grout to prevent sharp edges.
More than 225,000 viewers liked the video, with many praising the changes in the comments section.
“This is the most amazing DIY ever!!” said one person.
“You can also get a right-angle caulking tool to make the edges flush. Beautiful work done.”
“Looking absolutely gorgeous, what an improvement,” another user wrote.
“What an amazing transformation! Looks so good,” a third person commented.
“Oh I love this so much,” added another user. “We wanted to do something with the old concrete balcony and stairs.”
According to Making Home, crazy paving became popular in the 1970s, but it never went out of style.
Jigsaw style pavers are inspired by natural stone designs found in driveways, paths, patios, pool areas and garden landscapes.
Some people prefer to buy pavers that are already crushed into various shapes from manufacturers who can guarantee that there are no sharp spots.
DIY projects require waterproof adhesive sealants and materials suitable for outdoor use.
How to turn your backyard into a little paradise
Houna Bech is an interior designer and founder of the style blog With Houna.
She shared with The US Sun her five tips for transforming a bleak outdoor space into a “sensory little paradise.”
- embrace nature
“Use landscaping, trees, flowers, and the organic environment as your muse,” she said.
2. Bringing the inside out
“Repeat color palettes, textures, and materials to make the transition between indoors and outdoors seamless,” she said.
3. Create zones for specific purposes
“Maybe design a luxurious cabana with a plush lounger and vanity for an outdoor makeup session with your girlfriends,” she said.
4. Make comfort a priority
“I'm talking about cloud-like sectionals, upholstered daybeds, and oversized weatherproof poufs that you can really wrap yourself in,” she said.
5. Be creative
“Finally, transform your entire outdoor area into an artistic installation,” says Beck.
Using a primer will prevent moisture from building up under the tiles over time.
The hack occurred after real estate broker Adrian Pedraza revealed to the US Sun several ways to upgrade your outdoor space.
He recommended dividing areas according to different purposes such as eating, relaxing and entertaining.
He said there should be a “seamless” flow between indoors and outdoors, which could be achieved through accessories and greenery.
“Just last month, we had a customer with a large but lifeless and bleak backyard,” he said.
“We gave this space purpose by first defining separate zones for lounging and eating.”
“Finishes such as festoon lighting, colorful tile accents, and antique Mexican ximeneas created a layered, curated feel,” he added.
