Health and lifestyle experts, like tech billionaire Brian Johnson, 46, are sharing DIY biohacking routines that could help 'reverse aging'. This American entrepreneur is best known for his anti-aging lifestyle called Project Blueprint.
This project is his attempt to reverse aging and “biohack” his own body. He says he is spending £1.5m a year on the project.
As part of Project Blueprint, he strives to keep his body in the same condition as an 18-year-old. Johnson said his doctors are measuring 70 organs in his body and helping him “reverse the biological age of each quantified organ to the greatest extent possible.”
“More than 15 organs were measured and the age reversal points were 507,” he added on his website. The billionaire's real age is 46, but he claims his biological age is currently 36.
Johnson also takes 111 supplements a day, eats 2,250 calories in six hours and receives regular blood transfusions. But Johnson isn't the only one currently obsessed with biohacking.
Fitness experts at SET FOR SET predict that biohacking will be one of the hottest trends of 2024. With this in mind, experts analyzed Mr Johnson's eating habits and daily habits in order to inspire others who want to try biohacking. However, remember that it's always best to consult your doctor first before making any major lifestyle changes.
ice-cold plunge
A cold plunge is a type of cold water therapy or cold water immersion that involves immersing yourself in cold water temperatures. SET FOR SET experts recommend 11 minutes of cold water exposure per week, which can be divided into three minutes per session.
Research suggests that the optimal temperature range for cold plunges focused on reducing muscle soreness is 10-15 degrees Celsius. This reduces inflammation, improves blood circulation, and promotes post-workout recovery. It has also been shown to boost your immune system, improve sleep quality, and help manage stress.
Optimize your sleep
Getting about 7 to 9 hours of sleep each night can promote muscle growth and repair, keep your brain alert, improve blood sugar levels, and even extend your lifespan. To maintain good sleep hygiene, wake up and go to bed at about the same time each day. Even on the weekends, the temptation to lie down is greatest.
normal sauna
sauna Has cardiovascular health benefits, attempts to cool the body by increasing heart rate, blood flow, and cardiac output. It is known to lower blood pressure, benefit cardiovascular health, and increase life expectancy.
Experts say to start with short sauna sessions and increase your time in the sauna. For best results with this biohack, choose a temperature of 80-90 degrees Celsius for 30 minutes at least three times a week.
Testosterone replacement therapy (TRT)
Testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) is becoming increasingly popular among men because their testosterone levels decline as they age. TRT is often used when the body is not producing enough testosterone. There's science behind TRT, which improves energy levels, sex drive, and increases bone density, muscle mass, and insulin sensitivity. It is best to consult your doctor in advance.
intermittent fasting
Intermittent fasting causes several changes in your body. These include lower blood insulin levels (which promotes fat burning), increased human growth hormone (which again promotes fat burning and muscle gain), and cellular repair, where the body removes waste products from cells.
These changes are scientifically proven to be beneficial to the body, reducing body weight and visceral fat, lowering insulin resistance, reducing oxidative stress and inflammation in the body, and benefiting heart health. There is a possibility.
For people trying intermittent fasting for the first time, 2:10pm and 12:12pm tend to be the best options as they have fewer restrictions on when you can eat. This means you can fast for 14 hours and eat for 10 hours, or you can fast for 12 hours and eat for 12 hours.
regular blood tests
Most of us only take blood tests when necessary, but biohacking requires blood tests on a much more regular basis. This tracks blood sugar, calcium, cholesterol, and a host of other information that can indicate the onset of disease. Experts say to get your blood tested at least once a year to help detect deficiencies and diseases early.
Red Light Therapy (RLT)
Red light therapy (RLT) is a common method used to optimize overall skin health. Experts say RLT can also help promote muscle recovery and reduce pain and inflammation. According to research RLT is also known to smooth the skin and improve wrinkles, and is effective against acne scars, burns, and signs of UV damage. Experts recommend trying red light therapy three times a week for 10 minutes each time for at least a month.
