Deion Sanders' next step is to try for the NFL draft.
Colorado's coach says his son, quarterback Shedule Sanders, and two-way star cornerback/wide receiver Travis Hunter will decide where they go in the 2025 draft, rather than the other way around, as has traditionally been the case. Told.
“I know where I want them to go,” Deion Sanders said Friday on the “Million Dollars Worth of Game” podcast. “I mean, it's not going to happen in some cities. It's going to be in Eli.”
“Eli” refers to two-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback Eli Manning, who was selected by the Chargers with the No. 1 overall pick in 2004, but who has said he doesn't plan to play. An hour later, San Diego traded Manning to the New York Giants, and the rest was history.
Deion Sanders has already said he doesn't want his son to “go anywhere” in the draft. On Friday, he said on his podcast that there are “certain cities that would be a good fit” before naming San Francisco, Dallas, Washington and Baltimore as possible landing spots.
“There were some cities that were a good fit.” [for me]'' Deion Sanders said of being drafted by the Falcons in 1989. “Atlanta is a good fit, and I want that for my kids too. All of them. I want the right fit. [Atlanta] It was the first time I saw a black person in a position of authority. I was shocked. That was the reality in Atlanta. I had never seen anything like it in my life. ”
Deion Sanders said both Shedur Sanders and Hunter will be selected in the top four of the 2025 draft, with one of them expected to be selected with the first pick.
ESPN's Matt Miller recently projected Sanders as one of the top three quarterbacks and Hunter as one of the top three cornerbacks in the 2025 draft.
Shedur Sanders and Hunter transferred from Jackson State to Colorado after Deion Sanders took over as the Buffaloes' coach before last season.
In his first season in Colorado, Shedur Sanders threw for 3,230 yards, completing 69.3 percent of his attempts, 27 touchdowns, and just three interceptions, and the Buffaloes went 4-8. Meanwhile, Hunter had three interceptions on defense and caught 57 passes for 721 yards and five touchdowns. He missed three games with a liver laceration.
