Popular food delivery platform Zomato has come under fire online for suspending the account of one of its delivery partners in Mumbai, days before his sister's wedding. The incident came to light through a post on his X (formerly her Twitter) by a user named Soham Bhattacharya.
Bhattacharya, who calls himself a law student, narrated his encounter with distraught deliveryman Ayush Saini. GTB Nagar in Mumbai, Saini was reportedly crying without eating anything. Bhattacharya said Saini was trying to save money for her sister's impending wedding. Saini's predicament was compounded by the fact that her account was suspended just days before her wedding.
Despite some skepticism about the authenticity of the incident, Bhattacharya highlighted the turmoil experienced by Saini, detailed his financial woes and included his UPI QR code in the post. He also tagged Zomato and several BJP workers in the post.
In the next thread he wrote: I don't know how serious he was, but he was crying anyway. @zomato @zomatocare Please consider it. ”
In response to the protests, zomato “We deeply value our delivery partners and understand the impact of actions such as blocking IDs. Rest assured that we take such matters seriously. Itadakimasu. To us, our delivery partners are just as important as our customers.”
Then he explained,” Hey everyone, this is the updated QR code of Akash Sainiji’s relative (Ayush Saini). Please share this QR code and support as much as possible. Time is running out. ”
The case has received over 2.9 million views on X and support has been pouring in from all quarters. When one user asked Bhattacharya to share details, he posted: “I came home from work and this guy was crying, please help me, please help me, kalu dijie, behen ka sadi hai, kalu tent, ko, full payment, karna hai, but zomato. I said walo ne mera,” he posted. Please delete my account, kal diya hai, aur meine sabha sek kuch kuch kaya bhi nehi. ”
Another added: “This is truly a shameless act by Zomato and this unruly behavior cannot be justified.” And a third user wrote, “Even if the Zomato family doesn't take care of him. Let the Twitter family take care of him. May he prepare the best possible wedding for his sister.” Let's pray. Let's help him in every way we can.”
