This innovation, called DMC (Data Matrix Code), is based on a unique machine-readable code printed on the top of each LED package. DMC is currently already available in some members of the OSIRE® family of automotive LEDs. The code on the package links to the individual data of each LED production unit (color coordinates, luminous intensity, forward voltage at two currents).
These two current settings give manufacturers a wide range of dimming options for day/night mode while meeting the automotive industry's stringent requirements for color point stability.

With the introduction of DMC, ams OSRAM enhances the value of automotive LEDs as decisive data that effectively supports digitalized and automated factory processes. DMC is currently available in three automotive LEDs:

OSIRE® E5515 is an RGB 'Sidelooker' LED designed for modern ambient lighting inside vehicles. OSIRE® E5515 is available in a white, low-profile surface mount package and is ideal for coupling to low-profile light guides. Additionally, the temperature stability of the housing material has been optimized to improve compatibility with processes based on IMSE® (In-Mold Structural Electronics). OSIRE® E5515 is available under part number KRTB AELPS2.32.

OSIRE® E3323 is an RGB top-emitting LED for in-vehicle ambient lighting applications. Measuring just 3.3 mm x 2.3 mm x 0.7 mm, the OSIRE® E3323 is the smallest of its kind in the OSIRE® family, allowing for more flexible designs than currently possible with delta or inline RGB chip configurations. It will come true. OSIRE® E3323 products can be ordered under part numbers KRTB DWLM31.32 and KRTB DWLM32.32.
DMC is stamped on every LED manufactured, and manufacturers are free to choose whether or not to use that data. This value-added feature may be rolled out to other OSIRE® family members in the future.
