Bumble founder Whitney Wolfe Herd said the women-focused dating app is embracing AI.
Hurd, who recently stepped down as the app's CEO, said while discussing Bumble's future at Bloomberg Tech in San Francisco that Bumble will leverage AI to create a “healthier and fairer” dating experience.
“In the near future, you may be able to talk to an AI dating concierge and share your concerns…and you may receive productive tips for communicating with other people.” she says.
The idea of using AI to support cheating is not new. Tools like YourMove.AI and Love Genius use AI to create dating bios and messages that are more interesting to your date.

According to a recent study on AI platform Pollfish, one in three men in the US between the ages of 18 and 34 use ChatGPT for relationship advice. Only 14% of women in her age group reported doing the same.
But Hurd envisions Bumble taking AI technology a step further.
“There's a world where your dating concierge can date other dating concierges for you, so you don't have to talk to 600 people,” she says.
This prediction comes at a time when singles are feeling burnt out from swiping. According to 2023 data from the Pew Research Center, nearly half of Americans (46%) say they have had some or very negative experiences with online dating.
Hurd says this new AI service could make dating some of the fatigue: “This is the power of AI, if harnessed correctly.”
