A Boeing 767 cargo plane operated by FedEx Airlines suffered a front landing gear failure at Istanbul airport, causing its nose to crash into the runway. The incident occurred on May 8th.
The video shows a Boeing 767 landing using its rear landing gear and crashing nose-first with the front of the plane. Video also captured sparks and smoke flying around the plane as it scraped along the runway.
The handle @webflite shared a video on X and wrote, “Early today (May 8), the nose landing gear of a FedEx Boeing 767-3S2F cargo plane built in 2014 was damaged as the aircraft neared landing. “I couldn't grow up,” he wrote.

The video, posted on May 8, received over 3,03,000 views on the platform, with social media users praising the pilot for the successful landing. Reacting to this, a user wrote: “Great pilot.” Another user commented: “It's been much smoother than I expected. Great job pilots!”
A third user responded: “There is a problem with the maintenance of commercial aircraft.”
According to Reuters, there were no casualties and an investigation has begun. A FedEx Airlines Boeing 767 departing from Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport reported to a control tower in Istanbul that its landing gear would not open.
“Air traffic and operations at all other runways, including the auxiliary runway, are unaffected,” the airport operator said. The Boeing 767 was manufactured about 10 years ago and is based on his 767 airliner model from the 1980s.
In a similar incident in June 2023, a Boeing 717 operated by Delta Air Lines landed in Charlotte, North Carolina, without its nose gear.
