UnitedHealth announces extensive patient files may have been stolen in Change cyberattack
UnitedHealth announced that a cyberattack on its Change Healthcare business may have exposed files containing personal information that could cover “a significant portion of the population of the United States.” The company said Monday after markets closed that there was no indication that doctor records or a complete medical history had been released after the attack. But it could take months of analysis before UnitedHealth can identify and notify those affected. They have set up a website and a call center to answer questions. The company is also offering free credit monitoring and identity theft protection to those affected by the attack.

Wall Street is watching Tesla's earnings for clues about Musk's plan to restore the company's strong growth
In the face of declining global sales and falling stock prices, Tesla has again cut prices on some of its electric vehicles and its “full self-driving” system. This is an obvious effort to drive the company's revenue growth. But Wall Street is unimpressed and will likely demand another answer from CEO Elon Musk when Tesla reports its first-quarter results on Tuesday. For Musk, the answer appears to be the long-elusive robotaxis, which he has touted as a growth booster for Tesla. Now, Musk appears to be betting that the announcement of a new robotaxi on August 8th will be the catalyst for his company to return to significant annual sales growth.

LeBron James yells at Cole in NBA replay center, Lakers lose on buzzer beater, 2-0 to Denver
DENVER (AP) — LeBron James' anger boils over following the Los Angeles Lakers' recent loss to the Denver Nuggets. His anger wasn't about the Lakers blowing a 20-point lead in the second half or Jamal Murray's winning buzzer-beater that gave Denver a 101-99 victory. No, James was upset that the NBA's replay center reversed a foul call against the Nuggets in the second half. James said the decision should not have been reversed because Michael Porter Jr. clearly punched D'Angelo Russell in the face. The Lakers trail 2-0 and the series heads to Game 3 in Los Angeles on Thursday.
Police cleared a migrant camp in central Paris.Activists say this is a pre-Olympic clean-up
PARIS (AP) — French police have evicted migrants from a makeshift camp in Paris, steps from the Seine River. It is the latest operation in what aid groups call a “social cleansing” campaign ahead of the Summer Olympics. About 30 teenagers and young adults in West Africa were woken up by police and told to pack up their tents and belongings. The operation comes days after police carried out a mass eviction at France's largest squatter camp. Such evictions occur every spring. But aid groups say these efforts are being stepped up in the run-up to the Olympics. Paris police said the operation was carried out for security reasons.
Elon Musk accuses Australia of censorship after court bans violent video
MELBOURNE, Australia (AP) — Tech billionaire Elon Musk has ruled that an Australian judge will allow his social media platform X to access videos of a bishop being stabbed in a Sydney church from users around the world. He blamed Australian censorship after the court ruled that it had to be blocked. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese responded on Tuesday by describing Musk as an “arrogant billionaire”. X announced on April 15 that it would fight in court against an Australian order to remove posts related to the knife attack on the bishop as the service was being streamed online. The material was geo-blocked from Australia, but remained available for viewing elsewhere. However, the regulator that issued the order successfully applied in federal court on Monday for a temporary global ban on video sharing.
America's child care crisis is holding back mothers without college degrees
AUBURN, Wash. (AP) — High costs and limited access to quality child care are holding back American mothers without college degrees. Women's labor force participation has rebounded from the pandemic and reached a historic high in December. But that masks a lingering employment crisis among mothers without college degrees. For these mothers, a day without work is often a day without a paycheck. And if child care arrangements are disrupted, adults in the family are far more likely to give up work to adjust, according to an analysis of U.S. Census data by The Associated Press.
South Korean man sentenced to 14 months in prison for killing 76 cats
SEOUL, South Korea (AP) – A South Korean man has been sentenced to 14 months in prison for killing 76 cats in one of the country's most horrific animal abuse cases in recent years. The Changwon District Court in southeastern South Korea announced last week that a man in his 20s was found guilty of violating South Korea's animal protection law. After the man's car was scratched by another cat, he developed a deep hatred for the animal and continued to kill the cat, according to the statement. According to the court, between December 2022 and September 2023, the man captured stray cats from online sites, adopted other cats, and killed them.
Chicago Bears plan to announce Wednesday about new stadium near lakefront
CHICAGO (AP) – The Chicago Bears have scheduled a press conference Wednesday to announce plans for a “state-of-the-art public enclosed stadium” on the City Museum campus near Lake Michigan. Monday's announcement said the plan also calls for additional green space and open space with lakefront access. Last month, the team announced it was prepared to provide more than $2 billion to build a public stadium in the city. The remarks signaled a shift in focus from building new homes in the suburbs. Soldier Field has been the home of the Bears since 1971. His lease with the team runs through 2033.
