Businessman Anand Mahindra on Monday praised Indian chess sensation D Gukesh for creating history by becoming the youngest ever to compete in the world championships. Gukesh, 17, locked horns with Hikaru Nakamura in the final round.
The Chairman of Mahindra Group conveyed this to X and wrote, “Iceman wins!!” Although he comes from a sweltering state, he has shown that he can remain calm even when the competitive heat is at its peak. At just 17 years old, @DGukesh has a long and bright future ahead of him. The same goes for Indian chess. The entire nation will stand up and cheer for this Chaturanga champion. ”

On Sunday, Mahindra shared a photo of his first meeting with Gukesh at the launch of Tech Mahindra in Dubai last year.
While sharing the photo, Mahindra wrote, “In addition to his obvious technical skills, this young man @DGukesh has a calmness, composure and maturity beyond his years. The new Iceman. Whether he stays at the top tomorrow or not, it is clear that he will be a star for years to come and will inspire a new generation of Indians to take up the game.”
