AI has created what it thinks the “average person” is like in every U.S. state. I'm sure there's something to be said for some places.
With that in mind, the following so-called average values should be taken with a pinch of salt.
This gives you quite a few things you would expect. The AI-generated figures in Texas are once again cowboys, and as you would expect from the United States, there are more than a few cowboys in them.
However, some of the photos are pretty weird, with California having nine photos of women and Arkansas having one that looks like it came out of some weird corporate finance meme.
Some states have standard features typical of typical AI generation, while others have features that make you wonder what the technology is really thinking. There are many states where there are.
For some reason, AI thinks the average person in Kansas is some kind of corn-hoarding monster.
This actually had Iowans complaining that they had lost the mantle of “Corn State” to Kansas, but if ever there was a personification of the American state that is the corn monster, it's Iowa. Damn it!
Poor old Floridian is really in trouble, as the AI spits out what looks like a creepy Gollum lizard in a denim shirt.
The only stylish thing about Florida Man is his hat. We would all feel better if he wore it on his face instead of on his head.
It looks like he may be a distant relative of the Kansas Corn Monster, given his habit of standing around and looking incredibly creepy.
What really helped distinguish what was AI was an image overlaid with text that was essentially gibberish and completely useless.
This is one of the pitfalls of AI. You can make an AI create something similar to many other things, but getting it to actually understand what it's doing is another matter entirely.
While many states have been given the dirty tricks, there was broad consensus that Utah had come out of the deal pretty well, and many states were interested in meeting with him.
West Virginia was another state that people called “spotty,” but some noted that AI doesn't seem to be doing a good job representing women in the photo-generating deal.
Only Arizona, Alaska, Nevada and Colorado featured women, so in one photo there were actually nine California girls on the team.
Of course, there could be a woman under the mask in Iowa. Because no one knows what's underneath that mask.
At least this time Mr. Mayne isn't wearing a decorative lobster.
