SEKAMUAH – A new plan was recently announced by the DeKalb County Community Foundation to provide unlimited financial aid to students in Sandwich Educational Foundation District 430.
Students in District 430 will directly benefit from the newly created fund, according to a news release from the DeKalb County Community Foundation.
“The goal of this fund is to secure future funding that will benefit Sandwich students,” Sandwich Education Foundation President Janet Wright said in a news release. “The new fund also provides gap funding in the event of unforeseen circumstances (e.g., COVID-19) that prevent us from holding our annual fundraiser.” Our spring fundraiser typically produce the majority. ”
The Sandwich Educational Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 1994 to complement and enhance educational opportunities for Sandwich School District 430 students. The board includes teachers, parents and community members who volunteer their time to support and enhance the school, the news release said.
The Educational Foundation holds an annual fundraiser to collect grants and scholarships. Grants are awarded for projects or items not supported by the regular district budget.
Past grants have funded math manipulatives, adaptive gardening tools, after-school play, art programs, classroom technology, library and classroom books, preschool play equipment, and more. In addition to grant support, the Educational Foundation provides two scholarships per year to graduating seniors.
“We are honored to partner with the Sandwich Education Foundation by stewarding their endowment,” Community Foundation Executive Director Dan Templin said in a news release. “Their role in supporting the education of the Sandwich School District is critical and is evidenced by the support they receive from the community.”
Donations to the Sandwich Educational Foundation Fund may be sent directly to the Sandwich Educational Foundation, PO Box 44, Sandwich, IL 60548.
