ODESSA, Texas (KOSA) – The Odessa Education Foundation announced Wednesday that it has received a $200,000 grant from the FMH Foundation.
It will be used for 21 new pianos in Ector County ISD, according to the Educational Foundation. Starting in 2019, the department began its goal to provide high-quality pianos to all ECISD campuses. Because pianos have a long lifespan, the Education Foundation says this project will have a positive impact on students' lives for decades to come.
Over the past four years, the district has been able to replace 20 pianos. Four of the machines were funded by previous grants from the FMH Foundation. Funds from the FMH Foundation will now help the district complete its piano overhaul project by purchasing a combination of traditional acoustic and digital pianos. This project will provide students in Ector County ISD and the region (Andrews, Big Spring, Midland, etc.) with pianos for rehearsals and performances.
“We are very grateful to the FMH Foundation for once again supporting the arts in ECISD,” said Educational Foundation Executive Director Celeste Potter. “Through this grant, the Education Foundation will be able to expand its reach and ensure that not only current students, but also future students, can benefit from this partnership.”
