Some people will use any excuse to get away from DIY, but consider Patrick Kielty, who is actually in so much pain he has good reason to quit his job.
Cat Deeley revealed that the Late Late Show host initially misdiagnosed it as an injury from home renovations and is now suffering from shingles.
Speaking to co-stars Ben Shephard and Dr Sarah Khayat on This Morning, she said Patrick initially thought he'd been hit in the face with fibreglass and said he felt unwell.
She explained that construction was currently underway on the house and that he had suddenly complained of pain, which she said must have been due to one thing.
“He was moving things around in his house, which is currently under construction, and he actually thought the fiberglass hit him in the face and touched his face,” she said.
“So he felt a burning, tingling, stinging sensation, and he thought that was it.”
As it turned out, Patrick wasn't just imagining things, but was diagnosed with shingles, a painful virus that can affect anyone who has had latent chickenpox.
One in three adults suffer from the condition, but symptoms are varied and little known, so Dr Sarah explains what to look out for.
“First, you'll feel a tingling or burning sensation. You may also notice increased fatigue. You'll get a headache, you'll feel tired, and you may have a slight fever,” she said.
“After a few days, a rash will appear as small patches that turn into fluid-filled blisters, which will then crust over and fall off.”
Kat revealed that poor Patrick's rash appeared on his face, but Dr Sarah confirmed it could appear anywhere, including on the genitals or around the eyes.
This isn't the first time Cat has given viewers a behind-the-scenes look into Deeley Keelty family life on the show – when she first took on the job she admitted that she slept in the guest room most nights of the week because of the early morning wake-ups she had.
But otherwise, the couple live a largely off-grid private life with their two sons, Miles, 8, and James, 6.
Poor Patrick, we hope you recover quickly!
