Since the reunion Seo In-guk, Ahn Jae-hyun, and K.will earlier this yearPeople were hoping for some kind of collaboration, and they delivered with the iconicplease do not” Music video “There are no sad songs for a broken heart” “.
I was skeptical that they could recreate the magic of the original if they put in one more twist, but they ended up doing it again and I have to say this is as close to the original as you can get. The fact that there are already multiple interpretations of the story and people are outraged no matter which way it ends is testament to how well this was made.
Some theories are simple, others are time travel, but to me the white butterfly probably best represents the intention – it generally represents the passing of the souls of the dead, so when it flutters in front of Seo In Guk at the beginning it's meant to convey that he is already dead at that point.
That was a surprising twist. In the music video, they were made to think they were reuniting at someone's funeral (I thought it was Dasom's funeral), but instead Ahn Jae Hyun told Seo In Guk he was getting divorced or something, and they were able to resume their long lost friendship, and then Seo In Guk confesses to Ahn Jae Hyun in the tunnel, “There's something I've never told you before… Can I hug you just once?”, and Ahn Jae Hyun yells at him, and Seo In Guk turns around and walks back towards Ahn Jae Hyun.
However, it is revealed that the funeral where they supposedly met was Seo In Guk's funeral, and so the music video's timeline actually stops with Ahn Jae Hyun sitting on a chair outside after the funeral (or even while still standing at the funeral hall). The events in the music video never happen, perhaps representing Ahn Jae Hyun imagining how their reunion could have happened and how he had finally met his soul mate. Sadly, Ahn Jae Hyun is devastated by the reality that their relationship can no longer happen, and Seo In Guk leaves without answering his phone, confirming that it is no longer real. Seo In Guk, watching over him at the end, is also regretful, ending his part on the stairs with “I Miss You”.
At first I didn't really understand the significance of the clock, but Seo In Guk's broken clock stopped on the release date of “Please Don't”. That means he not only stopped in time (died), but he died on that day. Later, Ahn Jae Hyun also wears the same watch, but it's working now because he got it repaired, presumably as a memory of his friend. What bothers me is that Ahn Jae Hyun has the watch in the tunnel scene. There may indeed be a supernatural intention to say goodbye to a friend/future lover.
“No Sad Song For My Broken Heart” is an emotional music video to say the least, with even the sparse dialogue juxtaposed with the lyrics carrying the weight of the world. I also liked the twist in the song itself; it's a breakup song, but it's not really about that; rather, it's centered around sadness over something that never happened. The theme of regret, both in K.Will's performance and the performances of the actors, is one of the best I've ever seen in this medium.
Or “Because I'm A Girl” by KISS, lol. https://t.co/gONSGQgjWN

That said, I am also all for the time travel theory and Ahn Jae Hyun rewinding the clock to give himself and Seo In Guk a happy ending. Maybe next time they'll get Dasom involved and have a happy ending! Also, if you have any alternative interpretations please post them. I'd love to hear them too and see if I missed anything.
