A woman has revealed the unique method she uses to stimulate hair growth – but it also makes her hair stink.
In a Reddit post, user Yung_Mulann365 explained how an unexpected kitchen ingredient helped promote hair growth.
But her unusual beauty routine doesn't come without some big sacrifices.
“Please don't judge me. I'm just posting this to share my results with you all onion juice to help grow thicker hair,” she wrote.
The poster explained that they were initially skeptical about using the vegetable to promote hair growth.
“I don't usually believe in homemade drinks, so when I noticed onion juice trending on YouTube, I didn't want to believe it.”
The Reddit user was inspired by a friend who praised onions for adding length and volume to her hair.

After researching the concept, the Reddit user found evidence that onion juice “can help with hair loss, thinning hair, and balding.”

She detailed the process of applying it to her hair.
“I apply onion juice to my hair as a pre-shampoo treatment for 30 minutes and then wash my hair two to three times to get rid of the onion smell,” she said.
The poster suggests applying rice bran and oil to hair while it is wet, then applying a regular leave-in conditioner to the scalp.
“I also get scalp massages every few days to improve blood flow and hair thickness,” she says.
The Reddit user revealed that she's been using the product on her hair for five months with “pretty good results.”
“What I've noticed is that my hair is a lot thicker and has a bit more density and thickness,” she said.
