Alternative pop maestro Gia Ford announced today that her highly anticipated debut album, Transparent Things, will be released on September 13th via Chrysalis Records.
While she's released a steady string of singles over the past few years (several of which will appear on the LP; check out the full tracklist below), this upcoming project will be her first proper collection of songs, and it promises to be full of characters she describes as “outcasts,” all with “a unique sense of being on the periphery in some way.”
Regarding the album's concept, Zia explains: “Thematically, it has a mythical quality born from recurring references to creatures, ghosts and unknown spirits. It's a world of its own and the characters have a lot more in common than they initially thought.”
The first glimpse of this new chapter was released today in the form of lead single “Paint Me Like A Woman,” an uplifting number that explores how abuse affects the song's subject, a woman. “It's a look inside her mind as she feels herself drifting away from her true self and allows anger to be woven into the fabric of her being,” says Gia. “It's a comment on how we hurt each other and change each other, and the question of who gets punished for this awful nature that we all embody to varying degrees.”
