If you want to prevent you and your family from being bitten by ticks, these DIY tick repellents can help all Indiana residents!
I grew up in Indiana and we always played outside, and I'm sure you grew up in a similar situation where you played outside all day and as soon as you came in the house your parents said the same thing my parents said: “We need to check for ticks.”
It's tick season in Indiana right now. We've all heard the horror stories about ticks and the effects their bites can have on humans. For example, the bite of a tick found in Indiana can cause deadly allergic reactions. So how can you avoid getting bitten by a tick?
First of all, be sure to wear protective clothing when you go out in nature to stay away from ticks.
Of course, there's always the chance that you'll get bitten by a tick even if you're wearing protective clothing, so if that does happen to you, try these easy hacks to remove them with barely any pain. Of course, the whole idea is to prevent you from getting bitten in the first place, so we wanted to share some DIY tick repellents that might help.

Homemade Tick Repellent #3
At OSI Physical Therapy, we also carry another type of tick repellent that you can make yourself.
In a spray bottle, mix 2 cups of distilled white vinegar with 1 cup of water. To create a scented solution so you don't smell bitter vinegar all day, add 20 drops of your favorite essential oil.
Eucalyptus oil has a mild, pleasant scent and also acts as a tick repellent, while peppermint oil and citrus oils have a strong, refreshing scent that also repels ticks.
Once you've mixed the solution, spray it on your clothes, skin, and hair before you go outside. Respray every 4 hours to keep mites at bay, and check your skin and hair when you're back indoors to make sure there are no mites on your body.
