Divorce, the four-piece band from Nottingham, have released their second track of 2024, “My Room,” following their March single “Gears.”
Part of DIY's Class of 2024, the band once again worked with Catherine Marks (Boygenius, Foals, Wolf Alice) on what they describe as “an ode to unconditional love.” Speaking about the song's background, vocalist and bassist Tiger Cohen Towell said: “I think the lyrics are some of the most emotionally vulnerable I've ever written. It's about a deep desire to relax and show affection to someone you know very well. I think intimacy can be scary sometimes, and being seen for who you really are can put up a wall between you and the people you want to be closest to.”
“We had some amazing kids singing the final chorus. I think the children's voices give this song both rawness and gravitas. It really sums up the emotion I wanted to achieve with this song – it's like being transported back to your childhood bedroom, crying for no apparent reason, but also feeling joy!”
