We hope you are all enjoying a relaxing weekend. Google search rankings were very volatile again last Saturday. There has been a surge in SEO buzz and third-party Google tracking ranking tools have seen significant ranking fluctuations on June 8th.
I try not to post on weekends, but it looks like there may be another Google search ranking update this weekend. Indeed, Google search results have been very volatile over the past few weeks.
Yesterday, Saturday, June 8th, was also very hot.
Previous Recent Google Volatility
Here are some recent Google search ranking fluctuations we have reported on: Most recently it was June 5th, then the weekend of June 1st, followed by Memorial Day weekend, then May 22nd, May 16th, May 9th, May 3rd, and April 25th. Prior to that, the March 2024 Core Update began on March 5th and ended 45 days later on April 19th.

See how hot these tools were yesterday? Most of the tools already have today's data, so let's look at the previous day on these charts.

This is the worst traffic I've seen in a while. It happened on both HCU boosted and HCU demoted sites.
Yes, there has been a significant drop off not only due to the algorithm but also, in my case, the release of the Gemini app. We are at a disadvantage on almost every front.
That means sites that answered the query ranked lower, and sites that were unrelated to the query ranked higher. Years of hard work by Google engineers to create a site that perfectly answered the query ended up completely screwed up, just like the worst search engines.
They seem to have noticed something, it's been falling off for a few days now!
The traffic today is laughably bad. Before we say today is Saturday, there have been other Saturdays before. There are other Saturdays in the past that we can compare this week to.
At first, I was surprised at how little traffic there was. Now, the traffic is even less than I expected. I was disappointed. That's why I shared it the day before yesterday. Today, the traffic is laughably bad. I'm the same.
Now the weekends are definitely the worst days of the week.
For 10 years it was our busiest and most profitable day of the week, but now it's not.
That wasn't the case for us – our site has 10-20 news items during the weekdays, and on weekends we would see a drop of about 5-10% – but now in our niche we can see a drop of 40-50% on weekends.
This is no laughing matter anymore!! This is happening on a Saturday when most of the SEOs and webmasters should be enjoying their free time. Google is becoming unpredictable due to its AI driven(?) algorithms which must have developed their own dynamics.
There has been a big change in the last 24 hours. My rankings have dropped a lot. Once again, my competitors are nowhere to be found.
If you check the SERPs, as expected, you’ll see more spam.
What will you be watching this weekend?
