In the hilarious footage, a woman was left shocked when her porch swing collapsed to the floor.
Jess Biowass was trying out a new porch swing her husband had made, and she sat there with their two dogs, admiring her husband's creation.
He was impressed with his work and thought the swing was holding up well until the metal handle on the left side broke.
Doorbell camera footage captured the shocking moment a porch roof panel peeled off the ceiling and seats fell to the ground, garnering an astounding 986.9K likes and 13.9 million views.
Sam and Jess (@samandjessofficial), who live in Utah, shared this on TikTok: “My not-so-glovely husband trying to act dexterous. Thank goodness the doorbell camera caught this.”
In the video, Sam can be seen proudly admiring his creation as his wife, along with their two dogs, swing on the seat.
But things soon fell apart.
The left chain suspending the seat in the air came loose from the ceiling, causing the seat to fall.
Ironically, Sam was about to voice his concerns about the swing at the exact moment it fell.
He looked at the devastation in shock after making sure his wife was safe and their two dogs fled the scene.
He said, “Oh my goodness, if you move forward one more inch there'll be a stud there.”
Commenters erupted in laughter as the couple confessed their misfortune.
“I'm really sorry but I couldn't stop laughing,” Abby said.
Others questioned why the handyman didn't use a stud finder to make the seats.
Diana Lazan said, “Even I know how to use a stud finder!”
Davie said: “It would have been a good idea to find the studs first. Didn't you think the panels would be able to hold it up?”
Studs are the wooden or metal beams that drywall attaches to, and according to Popular Mechanics, they're the best place to hang things like chairs or hanging items.
A stud finder is a magnetic or electronic device that can detect the location of studs and hang items accordingly.
Other commenters marveled at the reaction of the two dogs, who quickly ran off when the chair became unbalanced.
“The dogs got up and ran out of there,” El Tulo said, with Regina adding, “Those dogs ran out!”
Another user commented: “Sorry but it's funny how the dogs quickly take off running in sync.”
Others have had similar accidents with porch swings.
One person said: “My mother-in-law broke her ankle this exact way a few years ago. Luckily she's OK!”
Kate added: “The same thing happened to my sister's fiancé and it all fell apart.”
