SANTA ROSA BEACH, Fla. (WMBB) — One of the world's most unique art exhibits, Alice Beach, was unveiled this week.
The 17th annual Digital Graffiti Festival will feature a variety of events over the weekend.
139 artists from around the world are displaying 91 unique works on the side of the Alys Beach building.
New to the 2024 festival are educational panels that are free and open to the public.
“Many of the artists exhibiting at Digital Graffiti are commercial artists, and they are here to talk about their work. So we have a great audience, including local art students as well as college students from all over the country. “It seemed like a great opportunity to expose people to the professional side of the arts,” said Diana Lane, public relations director.
The panel brings together artists and engineers who create pieces that perfectly fit the resort community's unique architecture.
“People have already learned a lot. What we're trying to do is bottle it up. So when you come here, you'll feel like you're going to learn a lot about digital art. ” said panel moderator Kevin Boyle. “The next time you have lunch with someone, you’ll say, oh my god, did you tell me about digital mapping?”
Three more panels are scheduled for several hours Friday and Saturday before the event moves into the evening's excitement.
“Given the way this festival has grown and continues to be, and how it has intentionally incorporated art from all over the world, if you just open your mind and just enjoy a beautiful night of art, I think if you're ready, that's the best way to go,” Boyle said.
Organizers said they plan to run the event as usual, while keeping an eye on the rainy situation. They will make an announcement on the festival's app or social media pages.
