COLUMBUS, Ohio — Governor Mike DeWine and Lt. Governor Jon Husted on Thursday announced the opening of the second application period for the Career Technical Education Equipment Grant Program. This program helps schools purchase the latest equipment to help prepare students for employment after graduation.
More than $67.7 million in funding was approved for a total of 56 schools during the first application period in March. This will affect 10,345 students per year.
“As more and more companies locate or expand their operations in Ohio, we need to ensure our employees have the latest skills and the latest training equipment,” DeWine said in a press release. Stated. “This investment in Ohio’s schools is an investment in Ohio’s future.”
“The best way to prepare students for their future careers at Ohio State is to train them on the equipment that companies actually use,” Husted said in a press release. “This is a great opportunity for schools to gain access to high-tech equipment that will prepare thousands of additional students for in-demand careers right here in Ohio.”
Equipment that can be purchased includes machinery, software, classroom supplies, operating costs, curriculum, and instructional materials.
The application period will close at 5pm on June 28th.
