Squadron leader Asim Jawad, 32, was killed when a fighter jet stunt went awry in Bangladesh. From a video shared on YouTube. Surveillance camera footagea Yakovlev Yak-130 jet attempted a daring aerial maneuver reminiscent of Top Gun, and it looked like something out of an action movie.
The stunt turned deadly as the jet scraped along the runway during an aileron roll at low altitude, sparks flying and smoke billowing up. An aileron roll is an aerobatic maneuver in which the aircraft rotates its full 360 degrees around its longitudinal axis. The footage captured the harrowing moments before pilot Asim Jawad tried to pull the jet out.

Asim and his co-pilot, Lt. Col. Sohan Hasan Khan, bravely escaped from the plummeting aircraft and landed in a nearby river. Rescuers managed to save them, but Asim succumbed to his injuries in hospital. Meanwhile, according to reports, Sohan is in critical condition and fighting for his life.
