According to reports, Liverpool have decided on a 'sale price' for Darwin Nuñez following interest from Spanish giants FC Barcelona.
The Premier League side invested an initial fee of around £64m to sign Nunez from Benfica ahead of the 2023-24 season.
Nunez has been Liverpool's box office hit over the past two seasons. He's always dangerous, but you never know what you're going to get from the Uguayan international.
The 24-year-old is still immature and prone to squandering chances, but he has scored 33 goals and provided 17 assists in 94 appearances in all competitions for the Reds.
Nunez was limited to brief cameos off the bench against West Ham and Tottenham Hotspur, and has fallen down the order in recent games.
Will Barcelona sign Nunez?
The forward recently fueled speculation he would leave the club by deleting all Liverpool-related posts from his Instagram account. His agent, Jorge Mendes, reportedly made an 'offer' for him to Barcelona. It was also revealed that he has “already said yes” to the La Liga giants in 2020.
Former Liverpool player Stan Collymore has explained why “it may be time for Nunez to leave Liverpool”.
“I've been attracting attention at Liverpool…for a club-record and national-record transfer fee,” Collymore told Caught Offisde. “The pressure was relentless, the media was relentless, every match was dissected, and the fans were used to always pushing for victory, even when the going wasn't so good. I understand what you are going through.
“The only question I asked him face to face, and the one I answered in my mind, was 'Do you think you're good enough to score enough goals and create enough chances for your teammates?' That's what it meant.
