AUSTIN, Texas — The University of Texas at Austin (UT) continues to expand its technology footprint.
The university was recently able to acquire a 68-acre site in Taylor thanks to a donation from the Taylor Foundation's nonprofit Temple College, which aims to bring higher education to the city.

The facility, soon to be named the University of Texas Austin Taylor Semiconductor Training and Research Center, will be located on Highway 79 near FM 973 near Taylor High School.
University officials said the location is ideal because it is close to the high school and close to the Samsung semiconductor factory, about 2.5 miles away.

The project is the latest in semiconductor manufacturing and research to come to Taylor, as South Korea-based tech giant Samsung is investing about $44 billion in semiconductor projects in the city.
