The Catholic Educational Foundation remains committed to providing a Catholic education to every family throughout the Diocese of Joliet.
On April 17, the Foundation sent award notifications to 1,215 students, kickstarting the scholarship award season that will award more than $2 million in financial aid for the 2024-25 academic year. The Foundation works closely with Catholic schools in the Diocese of Joliet to support families in need of a quality Catholic education.
This year marks the first time in six years that low-income and working-class families will face tuition costs without the Illinois Tax Credit Scholarship Program. In the Diocese of Joliet, more than 900 students received $8 million in scholarships from the program to attend Catholic schools.
Thanks to the incredible generosity of Catholic Educational Foundation donors, the Foundation provides bridging scholarships to students, allowing them to remain in the Catholic schools they are familiar with. This bridge grant provides up to 25% of tuition as an economically disadvantaged family adjusts from receiving her 100% tuition assistance to paying the full amount of tuition. .
“Being able to provide this grant is a great testament to the power of Catholic education and the recognition that our community recognizes its importance and promise,” said CEF Executive Director Jennifer Georges. . “The Catholic Education Foundation donors are committed to providing solutions for Catholic school families.”
Through the Foundation's scholarship program, families with students in kindergarten through fourth grade who have demonstrated financial need are encouraged to apply for tuition assistance.
The second phase of the Catholic Education Foundation's scholarship award process begins May 1st, and applications will be accepted until July 1st. Families can access the online application at http:/.cefjoliet.org/scholarship.
Families will be notified of grant awards in August, and grant checks will be sent directly to schools after fall enrollment is confirmed.
