Barron Trump, the youngest son of Donald Trump, will be thrust into the political spotlight for his role at the Republican National Convention (RNC) in July.
Delegates from around the country are scheduled to formally select their party's presidential candidate at a rally in Milwaukee, which will be Barron's father.
The 18-year-old is on the list of all delegates attending the Florida event.
Until now, Barron's mother, Melania, has largely kept him out of the public eye.
He is on the list along with other members of the Trump family who have long played key roles in their father's campaigns, including Barron's half-brothers Donald Jr., Eric and Tiffany.
Many other close allies of the former president are also on the list, according to NBC News, which first reported the story.
“We are fortunate to have such an incredible group of grassroots leaders, elected officials, and members of the Trump family working together as part of the Florida delegation,” Florida Party Chairman Evan Power said in a statement to US media. Stated.
A Trump campaign official told ABC News that Barron, who will graduate from high school next week, is “very interested in our political process.”
The RNC will be held in Milwaukee from July 15-18 and will confirm Trump as the Republican nominee for November's presidential election.
He has won enough state-level primaries, including one in his home state of Florida, to clinch the nomination. Each of the nation's 50 states and several territories is sending delegates to conventions to formally vote for presidential candidates, but the lack of a viable challenger to Trump makes voting a simple process. It is expected that
The former president won 2,037 delegates in the primary, far more than the 1,215 needed to win the nomination. Trump's closest challenger, former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley, won 97 votes.
Although Haley only won two races, Vermont and Washington, D.C., she became the first woman to win a Republican presidential primary. On the other side of the political divide, President Joe Biden is also set to be confirmed as the Democratic nominee for 2024, marking the first rematch in American presidential voting in 70 years.
This time, Trump is juggling his campaign and legal battles. He faces dozens of charges across four separate incidents.
His first criminal trial is underway in New York City, where he is charged with falsifying business records but denies wrongdoing.
He was granted special permission by the judge to take time out of court to attend Barron's high school graduation next week.
