Saturday's report from On3's Pete Nacos may bring a smile to the faces of Arizona State football fans, but the news of former Arizona State wide receiver Elijah Badger's visit schedule is heartbreaking for Sun Devils fans around the world. It is something.
According to NakosAfter being contacted by 20 different schools in the transfer portal, the California native is ready to begin his visit and has his sights set on the Arizona Wildcats.
In his final season in Tempe, the Badgers had 65 catches for 713 yards and three receiving touchdowns. Those numbers helped push his career totals with the Sun Devils to 142 grabs, 1,640 yards and 13 total touchdowns.
The Badger, a 2020 graduate of Folsom High School, is listed as a four-star prospect by the 247Sports Index and the No. 141 player nationally. He also checked in as the No. 3 player at his position and the No. 14 player in the state of California.
The Badgers enter the portal with two years of eligibility left and will begin their true senior season and redshirt year in 2020.
In addition to Arizona, the California native plans to visit Florida and has already completed a visit to Washington. Arizona State, Florida State, and Washington State all had interest in the Badgers coming out of high school and were looking to beat the Sun Devils for the Badgers.
Regardless of where Elijah Badger falls, Arizona State still has a sizeable vacancy to fill before the start of the 2024 season. Even worse, the Badger's loss might include seeing him suit up for his longtime rival.
