As data continues to be the backbone of enterprises, data visualization has become important to easily identify outliers, trends, and patterns in vast datasets.
Nomic Inc. accomplishes this through a product called. nomic atlas Organize unstructured data with maps powered by artificial intelligence. According to , data exploration and filtering is enhanced in the process. Brandon Duderstadt (pictured, right), Founder and CEO of Nomic.
“We call this a map. It's part of our product, Nomic Atlas,” Duderstadt says. “In Nomic Atlas, every part of a data set is a point on a scatter plot, and two points are close together if their data content is similar. You can apply various visualization techniques on top of that. .”
Duderstadt and Suraj Patel MongoDB Inc.'s Head of MongoDB Ventures (left) speaks with theCUBE Research's Chief Analyst Dave Bellante in MongoDB.local NYC event, Broadcasting exclusively on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media's live streaming studio. They discussed the importance of data visualization in modern times and how Nomic helps MongoDB with this purpose. (*Disclosure below.)
Data visualization requires stronger MongoDB and Nomic partnership
Building on MongoDB's mission to empower innovators to disrupt industries with software and data, the company partnered with Nomic to improve software developer productivity. Patel pointed out that this is because the data visualization introduced helped solve serious problems, such as fine-tuning the model and bringing the search extension generation system into production.
“When we invested in Nomic, we actually had a slightly different theory,” he said. “Certainly, this rubber really came into play with the ChatGPT release in 2022. When I met Nomic a few months later, not necessarily a subject matter expert, I was wondering what was going on with the model and how the model This phenomenon was witnessed by software developers who really wanted to understand what was going on with the model during training. And Nomic had some really powerful visualizations. ”
Introducing AI into everyday applications continues to be a top priority for enterprises. As a result, Nomic achieves this through an open source software platform. GPT4ALLAccording to Duderstadt, this enables the deployment and training of powerful, customized, large-scale language models on everyday hardware.
“One of the things we think about a lot at Nomic is the unit economics of these models, and this also applies to our third product, GPT4ALL,” he said. “GPT4ALL serves as a platform that allows us to take these specialized models, compress them, and run them in the cloud on more efficient hardware or at the edge on user devices.”
As ChatGPT demonstrates, RAGs have become a fundamental concept as generative AI models continue to take center stage. As a result, Duderstadt says, getting the right data is a key part of his RAG, and this is why Nomic Embed is useful.
“One of the things that Nomic has done is released this model, Nomic Embed, which is the first truly open data model that outperforms OpenAI's embedded model on both short and long context tasks. ” he said. “We've seen mass adoption of this. Hugging Face just passed his 1 millionth download, and the entire broader developer community is building a complete open source stack powered by Nomic. I am very much looking forward to running his RAG with him.”
