Connexin Software has agreed to pay $4 million to resolve allegations that it failed to prevent a 2022 data breach in which patient and employee information was compromised.
This settlement will benefit individuals whose personal information was compromised in the August 2022 Connexin Software data breach.
Connexin Software failed to protect patient and employee information from an August 2022 cyberattack, according to a class action lawsuit. The breach allegedly compromised the social security numbers, health insurance data, employment information, and other sensitive identifying information of approximately 3 million people.

Connexin Software has not admitted wrongdoing but has agreed to a $4 million settlement to resolve a data breach class action lawsuit.
Under the terms of the settlement, class participants may receive up to $7,500 for documented out-of-pocket losses related to the data breach or prorated cash fund payments. Refund payments will vary depending on the type of loss claimed, while cash funds payments will vary depending on the number of pro rata claims submitted and the cash funds after the refund claims are paid.
Class members may elect to receive three years of free identity theft and fraud monitoring in lieu of receiving a cash payment.
The deadline for exclusions and appeals is June 25, 2024.
A final approval hearing for the settlement is scheduled for July 24, 2024.
To receive the settlement proceeds, class members must submit a valid claim form by July 25, 2024.
