Safari is getting a series of AI-powered features and UI enhancements in iOS 18. Apple Insider I will report it.
Safari is coming with a variety of visual tweaks, along with some new tools to improve your browsing experience.
- The Intelligent Search browser assistant tool leverages Apple's on-device AI technology to identify important topics and phrases on web pages for summarization purposes.
- A “web eraser” tool that allows you to easily delete unnecessary parts of web pages. Erasure is permanent and will remain even if you return to the site unless the changes are undone.
- A new quick access menu that appears from the address bar consolidates the Pages tools, takes over some functionality currently in the Share Sheet, and places it next to the new tools.
We expect the iPadOS and macOS versions of Safari to work together even more. These new features are said to be being evaluated alongside internal builds of iOS 18 and macOS 15 ahead of their announcement at Apple's Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) in June. Earlier this month, backend code on Apple servers suggested a new Safari browsing assistant was in the works, confirming this report.
In the distant future, Apple is said to be working on a more powerful version of Visual Look Up that will allow users to get information about products when viewing images. This feature is expected to be released in 2025.
last week, bloombergMark Garman said iOS 18 is a “complete overhaul” of many of Apple's built-in apps, including Notes, Mail, Photos, and Fitness. Apple's next-generation operating system will almost certainly be previewed at Apple's WWDC keynote on June 10th, and updates should be widely released in the fall.
