Last week, Meta launched its artificial intelligence tool, Meta AI, in more than a dozen countries through various platforms including Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp.
Created by Facebook's parent company Meta, the tool can be used to “get things done, learn, create, and connect with what's important to you,” according to the company's April 18 release. Meta AI is free and can be used in your feed, chat, search, and more without leaving the app you're using. It also has an image generation tool that allows you to quickly generate AI images and GIFs.
This feature is now available in the following countries: Australia, Canada, Ghana, Jamaica, Malawi, New Zealand, Nigeria, Pakistan, Singapore, South Africa, Uganda, United States, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
Here's what you need to know about Meta AI.
What is Meta AI?
Meta, the parent company of Facebook, Messenger, Instagram, and WhatsApp, has rolled out new free AI features available on those platforms in English to more than a dozen countries, including the United States.
According to a news release from the tech giant, Meta AI will allow users to “access real-time information from across the web without jumping back and forth between apps.”
Meta AI can be accessed through your Facebook feed and Instagram search, and Meta is rolling out a beta test in the US on WhatsApp that uses the AI's Imagine feature to create images from text in real time.
This tool can also be accessed through its own website (meta.ai).
Can I turn off Meta AI on Facebook or Instagram?
Meta AI confirmed in chat that there is currently no option to disable the feature, but users can continue searching as they normally would and “work through different results.”
