If you're looking to spend a lot of money to redo your garden in time for summer, this DIY trick might be for you.
Dollar Tree shoppers shared the items they used to create their own solar globe lights.
Cynthia Villegas (@vintageandgraceliving) showed her followers how to easily “enhance” their gardens in a viral video.
As a first step, the Instagrammer picked up a plastic punch bowl from the store.
She explained that she needed two bowls to make a globe for each outdoor light.
Cynthia told viewers that they needed to brainstorm ways to create light inside each dome.
She decided to use solar pathway lights available at Costco.
Cynthia pointed out that solar lights are ideal because they are rechargeable and do not require batteries.
According to DIY experts, solar globe lights typically sell for $30 each.
She suggested spray painting each punch bowl to give it a matte finish.
The frosted glass is still transparent, so direct sunlight can still pass through and charge the solar light.
Cynthia also offered a “pro tip” to cut “a small hole in the top to let more direct sunlight through.”
She recommended securing the bowl with glue after placing the solar light inside.
“I’m using four dots, don’t be too crazy. [just use] Enough to keep it from being blown away by the wind,” she said.
Cynthia revealed that she made a total of seven lights and placed them around the flower bed.
“Honestly, this is a game changer. The atmosphere outside at night is amazing,” she told her followers.
Instagram users shared their thoughts on the DIY project in the comments section.
