Michigan's football recruiting efforts haven't really taken off yet under head coach Sherone Moore, but you can feel the momentum building. That's especially true now that the Wolverines are trending with 2025 top-50 recruit Nate Marshall.
The 6-foot-5, 265-pound defensive lineman from Oak Park, Illinois, was on campus this weekend for the spring game. Michigan State football was already heading in the right direction, but on Sunday, On3.com's Steve Wiltfong dropped his expert's prediction that Marshall would commit to the Wolverines: Von Bomb.
This is important because Marshall is ranked No. 36 overall in the 2025 class, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings. He's the No. 1 and No. 4 defensive lineman in the state of Illinois.
Wilfton's prediction is very important. He is without a doubt one of the top recruiting experts in the industry. But another reliable Wolverines source, Michigan Insider's Sam Webb, also made a crystal ball prediction Sunday night that the Wolverines would acquire Marshall. Mr. Webb used a confidence level of 7 on a scale of 1 to 10.
Marshall has upcoming official visits to Miami and Alabama, but this was his third time on the University of Michigan campus. Moreover, I am sure that his official visit is also in the works.
What is the commitment timeline?
I don't feel like the promise is coming anytime soon, but I really don't know. Marshall may want to wait and receive an official visit, as most recruits do, before making a decision. Maybe Michigan impressed him enough to realize what he was getting into.
