The work of four East End artists Laura Feyer, Anna Lise Jensen, Peyton Miller and Zelie Relim is currently on display at Southampton Cultural Center in the exhibition 'Personal Infrastructure' . The show, which opened in early April, concludes with the closing event, His DIY Banquet, on Saturday, April 27th from 5pm to 9pm.
This exhibition explores both literal and imagined infrastructure through the lens of four artists who met in Southampton. The show was made possible through discussions with Anna Lise Jensen and North Fork architect Glynis Berry about Berry's community work on wastewater in Suffolk County. The artist has integrated the text of her two interviews with Berry (in 2012 and her 2024) with her photographs.
Laura Fayet's work reveals the relationship between early memories and inspiration by juxtaposing paintings with photographs of her early years living in Japan and of her father as a soldier in South Korea during the Cold War. .
Peyton Miller bases his paintings on real places he visits and on his imagination, and the paintings in beehive frames are from the garden he shares with his beekeeper wife.
Zelie Rellim's work consists of sowing together scraps discarded by family and strangers, and her recycling of materials yields a map of the overlooked and the possible.
The exhibition's closing DIY banquet on Saturday, April 27th will allow all attendees to bring their own food and drinks to the SCC, as well as objects and stories to share with other attendees.
