This has been one of the most exciting NFL offseasons in recent memory. He also had some influential free agent signings and huge trades. These trades increased the value of some players and hurt others. Let's focus on fantasy football players, who are on the decline.
Fantasy football players are on the decline
Nico Collins (WR – HOU)
Nico Collins has played second fiddle throughout his career in Houston. First with Brandin Cooks and now with Tank Dell. When Del was down, he stood up. From Weeks 12 to 18, he was the WR4 in PPR. Only CeeDee Lamb and Deebo Samuel averaged more points per game than him (minimum 6 games).
Everything was going well for Collins heading into 2024. Even if Dell were to return, he would see the same results as quarterback and reigning Offensive Rookie of the Year CJ Stroud.
Things changed with the addition of Diggs. The addition of Diggs is a blow to all receivers, but could have an even bigger impact on Collins if Diggs establishes himself as the No. 2 option behind Dell.
Ryan Tannehill (QB – FA)
A month after his first free agent signing, Ryan Tannehill still doesn't have a team. The fact that the Titans tried twice to draft their next quarterback shows that they lost faith in him a long time ago.
Tannehill's inability to throw the ball deep has been an issue. Last season, he ranked 18th in deep ball accuracy rating and 24th in deep ball catching percentage.
There's a good chance he'll find a team by September, especially if an injury occurs during training camp.
Odell Beckham Jr. (WR – FA)
Another veteran who became a free agent after not finding a team.
After taking a year off to recover from his second torn ACL, Odell Beckham's only season with the Ravens was lackluster.
He was completed as a phantom WR63. His athletic ability that made him special is gone. He was 74th in route win percentage and 62nd in yards after catch (YAC).
The market for lame, aging receivers is minimal. We might not see him in the league this year.
