It's safe to say that the second Before They Knew Better podcast series is in full swing, starting with episodes from CMAT and Everything Everything's Jonathan Higgs earlier this month. This time we have two of his guests: indie icons Ryan and Gary Jarman of The Cribs. They are twins and will talk about their shared childhood.
They talk about Wakefield's life in the early '90s, including his obsession with Queen, horror movies, and ghosts (Natch, with Demi Moore and Patrick Swayze). You can also hear snippets from Jarman's first foray into music production as a teenager.
“Before there was music, before there were computer games, we were all into movies and stuff,” Ryan says on the podcast. “When someone in my family had a birthday, we would dress up as Freddy Krueger and hand out presents. I don't know why it was a tradition in our family, but it's one of the things we do. ” Gary laughs. “That was really cool, too. If Rai wasn't doing the Krueger show, it wouldn't have been his real birthday.”
Before They Knew Better – available to listen now on Spotify, Apple, Amazon, and all major podcast platforms – is a DIY podcast that delves into the early successes, struggles, and hardships of your favorite musicians. New episodes are released every Tuesday morning.
