New York City-based Edged Energy will build a new state-of-the-art sustainable data center in Irving called Edged Dallas.
The company says the facility is built for high-density computing for AI workloads and will be equipped with advanced waterless cooling systems and ultra-efficient energy systems. It is expected to open in the fall.
Edged CEO Bryant Farland emphasized the company's environmental focus in the announcement. “Sustainability is at the core of our platform,” he said, pointing to the energy and water-saving features of the company's data centers. Farland cited the Irving Economic Development Partnership and its collaboration with the City of Irving, recognizing the city as a “thriving technology hub” and expressing confidence that their partnership will strengthen “the region's burgeoning digital economy.” expressed.
He added: “Together, we are delivering world-class connectivity and advanced solutions.”
The Irving City Council voted unanimously last week to support the development, the company said.
Connecting sustainability and computing power with Edged Dallas
Located at 505 North Wildwood Drive, east of Highway 12 and south of Highway 183, Edged Dallas will provide 24 MW of significant capacity, conserve critical local water resources, and save energy. Minimize usage.
Edged said the company has a gigawatt-sized project pipeline with more than a dozen new data centers in operation or under construction in Europe and North America.
Edged said its facilities are designed to deliver an industry-leading average power usage efficiency (PUE) of 1.15 across its portfolio. At a time when rivers, aquifers, and watersheds across the country are dangerously low and water shortages are worsening, Edged Dallas is expected to save nearly 95 million gallons of water annually compared to traditional data centers. It is expected.
“We are thrilled to welcome Edged Dallas to Irving. Our city has all the right pieces to become a world-class destination for critical data infrastructure. “Irving Mayor Rick Stopfer said in a statement. “Irving's common-sense approach to regulation and taxes, our large and talented workforce, and existing physical infrastructure links position us to meet the computing power needs created by artificial intelligence and other applications. We are particularly pleased that this project will be located in South Irving and hope that it will be a catalyst for similar developments in the area in the future.”
Waterless cooling and data center growth
The company said Edged Dallas will be equipped with a ThermalWorks waterless cooling system designed to support the intense demands of generative AI and advanced computing. The modular system supports densities up to 70 kW per rack with air cooling and 200 kW per rack with plug-and-play liquid cooling integration.
Unlike other waterless cooling solutions, ThermalWorks' advanced technology is ultra-efficient, allowing Edged to significantly reduce energy overhead by 74% compared to the global average PUE of 1.58 as reported by the Uptime Institute The company says it was able to do so.
“On behalf of our member investors and Board of Directors, I would like to welcome Edged Dallas and its partners to our Irving home,” said President and CEO of the Greater Irving-Las Colinas Chamber of Commerce and the Irving Economic Development Partnership. Beth A. Bowman, , said: said in a statement. “This project is a major vote of confidence in Irving as a destination for the data infrastructure needed to keep our current and future digital economy moving. Our city center location, world-class accessibility, The strong and business-friendly outlook presents significant opportunities for data center companies looking to establish or expand their presence in the region.”
Edged Dallas LLC, a subsidiary of Endeavor, specializes in data center infrastructure.
The facility will join a growing network of edge data centers currently under construction across the country, including in Atlanta, Chicago and Kansas City.
