MILWAUKEE (AP) — A 33-year-old man was charged Friday with murdering a woman whose feet were found on the beach at a lakeside park near Milwaukee.
Maxwell Anderson was jailed on charges of first-degree intentional homicide, mutilation of a corpse and arson in the death of Sayde Robinson, according to a criminal complaint filed in Milwaukee County Circuit Court.
Anderson, a Milwaukee resident, was arrested on April 4, two days after his feet were discovered by a passerby at the base of a cliff at Warnimont Park along Lake Michigan in Cudahy. His leg had been amputated just below his waist.
Robinson was reported missing on April 2 by a friend. An employee at the building where Robinson lived told police that Robinson was excited about a date he had scheduled for April 1, according to the complaint.
Surveillance camera footage from the restaurant showed Robinson and Anderson sitting together at the bar on the night of April 1. Her burnt-out car was found the next morning.
Additional human remains were discovered on April 5th and April 6th. Police said the remains have not been positively identified as Robinson's.
“We do not believe there are any other victims at this time,” Milwaukee County Sheriff Denita Ball told reporters Friday.
Anderson was held on $5 million bail. The preliminary exam was set for April 22nd.
The Associated Press left a voicemail Friday seeking comment from an attorney listed as representing Maxwell.
