The College of Education and Human Sciences' (CEHS) commitment to excellence in education was on full display at the National Field Experience Conference (NFEC), where five esteemed faculty from the College of Curriculum, Instruction, and Leadership (CIL) shared their insights. Did. And innovation.
Presenting faculty members were Dr. Amy Bessel, Dr. Dustin Whitlock, Dr. Joanne Hood, Dr. Lynn Stratton, and Dr. Tina Allen. Their presentations not only showcased her CIL's dedication to advancing educational practices, but also highlighted her CIL's role in shaping the future of education in North Louisiana and beyond.
Reflecting on the conference, Stratton said: We worked to streamline processes, including editing documents, changing protocols, and providing professional development to stakeholders. Without a doubt, we are producing better prepared teachers. ”
“This experience was beneficial to me as a professor at CEHS because it allowed me to network with colleagues from all over the country while also showcasing the great research being done on our campus and around North Louisiana. Because of that,” Whitlock said.
Presentations included topics such as the importance of programmatic alignment in communicating expectations and the importance of having a robust system in place for residents as they move toward certification. They also announced the use of Master of Educational Leadership (MEDEL) students as resident evaluators.
“By providing our students with this opportunity, we are preparing them to play the role of evaluators, which is one of the responsibilities they have as future school leaders.” Hood he said. “Based on the feedback we received, this concept had not been implemented by any other university.”
“Louisiana Tech University takes pride in using our tenure-track faculty to conduct clinical evaluations of residents and interns and provide in-depth coaching and feedback on course instruction throughout the academic year.” said Bessel, director of clinical and professional experience. “This allows our faculty to stay connected with teacher candidates from midway through to the end of the marathon as they prepare to become future educators. Through faculty research, we We are strengthening our undergraduate and graduate programs.”
