Here are La Rochelle's player ratings after Saturday's tense 22-21 victory over the Stormers in the Champions Cup at Cape Town Stadium.
La Rochelle player ratings vs Stormers
15 Bryce Dulin: Solid under high balls and had some decent breaks, but otherwise constrained. 6
14 Jack Nowell: He came on late to Teddy Thomas and was impressive. He consistently landed and looked for work as the Stormers struggled to contain him. 7
Handling errors
13 Ulpano Seuteni: It was an eventful day for the Samoan center, who at times was one of La Rochelle's most powerful attacking players, but was littered with some horrendous mistakes and unnecessary workloads. 6
12 Jonathan Danti: It wasn't the way he became one of the best centers in the world. He did some good work at breakdowns, but lacked strength on carries. 6
Springbok's Manny Livbok hooks a late winner as La Rochelle beat injury-hit Stormers
11 Dilin Reyes: His best work came without the ball, winning a crucial turnover before getting the better of Suleiman Hartzenberg when the Stormers threatened with a kick-through. He was sin-binned late, but had to attempt a turnover inches from the line. 6
10 Antoine Hastoy: Sometimes it gets a little too busy. He went into the World Cup as France's third-choice fly-half and also played in the World Cup following an injury to Romain Ntamack, but he doesn't have the class of him or Mathieu Jalibert. He needs to work harder to get back into the Test mix. Five
Key 8-9 partnership
9 Tawera Carr-Barlow: Classy performance from the scrum-half who put the forward pack together well after the break. He chose the right option and nailed the South African side. 8
8 Gregory Aldritt (c): As usual, the French captain was impressive. He worked tirelessly in the first half and increased his influence as the match progressed. 8
7 Levani Botia: He was typically predatory at the breakdown and wreaked havoc on the Stormers' ball. He had too many missed tackles, but his efforts allowed him to stay in the contest. 8
6 Judy Kael Kankorie: He struggled during his time on the field and was substituted early in the second period. Five
Great performance by the big man
5 Will Skelton: His yellow card was ironic, but the huge lock that followed was unfathomable. His sheer power ultimately overwhelmed the Stormers. 8
4 Ultan Derain: Another player improved as the game progressed and was replaced with just over 10 minutes remaining. 6
3 Wini Atonio: He was on top in the scrum, but it didn't really pay off until the second half when it became a real weapon for La Rochelle. 7
2 Tor Ratu: Ronan O'Gara didn't have the impact he had hoped for and, like Kankorie, was sent off in the 51st minute. Five
1 Lewis Penburn: It was a great performance from a young player, with excellent set-pieces and good loose carries. Looks like a real talent. 7
Replacement: He helped change the game to keep Champions Cup hopes alive. Quentin Respioch and Paul Budegent added more power to an already solid group, while Ioan Tanga and Joel Sclavie also made an impact. 8
