The annual Purple Pride Patrol event provides grants and dual credit scholarships to teachers. For the 23rd consecutive year, teachers received cash donations as well as grants to support classroom and extracurricular activities. .
“The Hallsville Educational Foundation is thrilled to reach this incredible milestone of donating more than $1 million to HISD since its founding in 2001. We are so grateful to our founding donors and past board members for paving the way.'' Goals,'' said Hallsville Educational Foundation Executive Director Lauren Bresch.
“This would not have been possible without our generous donors, dedicated teachers, and board members. “It's so much fun to surprise the teachers with something like this,” Bresch continued.
The event began Thursday morning on the campus of Hallsville East Elementary School, where members of the Hallsville Educational Foundation, surrounded by band members and cheerleaders, began presenting checks to cheering students in the gymnasium. Hallsville East Elementary School Principal Melissa Torrence provided students, staff, and faculty in attendance with details about the awards that will be presented to kick off the Purple Pride Patrol event.
“This grant is an opportunity to get something really great for you and our school,” Torrence told attendees.
The event continued throughout each Hallsville ISD campus. On Thursday, the Purple Pride Patrol patrolled the East Elementary campus, followed by the middle school campus, then moved to the middle school campus. On Friday, the tour visited the West Elementary School campus, the North Elementary School campus, and finally the high school campus.
The Hallsville ISD Education Foundation is a 501©(3) nonprofit organization founded in 2001 with the mission of acquiring and directing additional resources to fund educational projects not typically included in the district's regular budget. That's what I mean. Purple Pride Patrol continues its tradition of strengthening education in local communities through awarded funds, scholarships, and increased private support to give back to school districts where they are needed most. The grants provided will be used to improve academic performance in schools by providing additional resources and opportunities.
“It's so rewarding to see the big smiles and excitement on the students' faces,” Bresch said. “It’s a great day to be a Bobcat!”
