Lizzo said she is “quitting” because she is tired of being targeted online for her appearance and personality.
He did not say whether this meant taking a break from the music industry or social media.
“I'm tired of letting everyone drag me down in life and on the internet,” Lizzo wrote.
Her post came a day after an attorney representing the former dancers criticized the decision to choose the pop star to headline a fundraising event amid allegations made against her last year.
The dancers' claims included sexual harassment and creating a hostile work environment, which Lizzo denied.
“All I want is to make music and make people happy and help the world be a little bit better than it was when I met it. I’m starting to feel like I don’t want to,” Lizzo wrote on social media in a Medium post.
The Good as Hell singer, 35, said she is “constantly confronting” the lies being told about her for “influence and views”.
She added that she feels “the butt of jokes every time” because of her appearance, and that her personality is “made fun of” by people who don't know her.
“I'm not signing up for this,” she concluded. “I quit.”
Stars were quick to show their support for Lizzo. Reality TV star and entrepreneur Paris Hilton commented on her post, writing, “We love you Queen.”
Destiny's Child singer LeToya Luckett added: “You are deeply loved.”
Lizzo is known for celebrating her body and self-love, but she has also spoken out about harmful online comments about her appearance in the past.
Last May, she said on X (formerly Twitter) that she received a new wave of body-shaming comments, including speculation about her eating habits and whether she eats a lot of fast food.
“Guys, you have no idea how close I am to giving up on everyone and quitting,” she wrote at the time.
Last August, three of Lizzo's former dancers sued Lizzo, accusing them of sexual harassment and creating a hostile work environment.
Ariana Davis, Crystal Williams, and Noel Rodriguez are among the former dancers who are suing the singer, her dance captain, and her production company.
Legal actions include accusations of sexual, religious, and racial harassment, discrimination, assault, and false imprisonment.
Lizzo is also accused of fat shaming Davis while on tour.
The singer, whose real name is Melissa Vivian Jefferson, called the allegations “false” and “unbelievable.”
Lizzo was last seen on Thursday, performing at New York's Radio City Music Hall to raise money for US President Joe Biden.
Ron Zambrano, an attorney representing the three former dancers, told NewsNation, “It is shameful that Lizzo would be chosen to headline an event like this in the face of these damning allegations.” It is said that he spoke.
BBC News has contacted Lizzo's representatives for comment.
